Sure it has its fans claiming it is not fad diet and that it works. One or another, at least it is healthier than the Atkins diet. But honestly, there can’t be any less healthy diet than the Atkins.
The daily eating plans of the South Beach Diet consist of foods as lean meat, eggs, vegetables and of course seafood. During the first phase, also called shock phase, you are not allowed to eat any fruits or vegetables and you have to keep you carbohydrates intake to minimum. This phase can carry one awful side effect – fatigue, which is caused by the low energy level, so this phase is really hated. That is the reason why many dieters quit this diet within few days and never stick to it again. However, it should be noted that not all the slimmers experience this symptoms. According to studies, only 2 out of 10 dieters experience the fatigue, that’s 20%.
The good part of the South Beach Diet is the removal of simple carbohydrates found in bread or pasta from the eating plan and replacing them with healthier complex carbohydrates from vegetables and wholegrains. The bad part is the marking which makes the people believe they will shed pounds fast. You should know that losing the weight fast is unhealthy and can seriously harm your health. Sure they will shed some pounds during the hated shock phase, however the weight lost will be most the water and close to zero body fat.
On the other hand, once the shock phase is over, the second phase consists of many good and reasonable eating advices and healthy recipes. You can also get some pre-cooked South Beach foods if you don’t have the time to cook it by yourself. All things considered, the South Beach Diet is many times wrongly considered to be a fat diet. You can easily skip the shock phase and continue with the second phase. And because the second phase consists of healthy food, it really can help you reach your weight loss goals.
